{"id":1425,"date":"2015-01-02T21:56:49","date_gmt":"2015-01-03T03:56:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.supportpro.com\/?p=1425"},"modified":"2021-09-29T04:39:31","modified_gmt":"2021-09-29T10:39:31","slug":"awstats-an-overview","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.supportpro.com\/blog\/awstats-an-overview\/","title":{"rendered":"Awstats :: An overview"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When we own a website, we may want to analyze on how many people visits our website. cPanel has several in-built statistical analysis programs and one of the most important ones is <strong>Awstats<\/strong>.\u00a0 Awstats produces visual statistics about visitors of your site.<\/p>\n<p>Awstats gives details about the count of people visiting your website, and other information like:<\/p>\n<p>&gt; Monthly history<br \/>\n&gt; Countries visiting your website (Top 25)<br \/>\n&gt; Visits duration<br \/>\n&gt; Operating Systems that accesses your website (Top 10)<br \/>\n&gt; Browsers (Top 10) etc.,<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Awstats updates the site stats information every 24 hours. The very first time you enable a log statistics program, normally it will take 24 &#8211; 48 hours for the reports to get appeared in cpanel.<\/p>\n<p>To enable awstats for your website, you can use the steps mentioned below.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Login to your cPanel.<\/li>\n<li>Click on Awstats option under the \u2018Logs\u2019 section.<\/li>\n<li>Click on the magnifying glass icon under the \u2018View\u2019 column to see the website stats for your website.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Sometimes, there are chances that your awstats program may not update the stats with the recent information. In such cases, you will see that the \u2018Last Update\u2019 and the \u2018Last visit\u2019 field in the awstats page are older than the current date.<\/p>\n<p>To get the stats updated, you can manually enable the button \u2018<strong>Update Now<\/strong>\u2019 under the Awstats page in cpanel. Through the \u2018Update Now\u2019 option, you can instantly update the stats for your website and then notice that the report has been updated to reflect the most recent data.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Let us see how to enable the option \u2018Update Now\u2019 via various methods.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>1)\u00a0 cPanel<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Please follow the steps given below to enable \u2018Update Now\u2019 option via cpanel.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Login into your cPanel.<\/li>\n<li>Open File Manager under \u2018Files\u2019 section.<\/li>\n<li>Navigate to the path \/home\/cpaneluser\/tmp\/awstats\/\u00a0\u00a0 (where \u2018cpaneluser\u2019 is the username of your cpanel account).<\/li>\n<li>Edit the .conf file (e.g. awstats.example.com.conf) by doing right-click on the particular file and selecting the \u2018Edit\u2019 option.\u00a0 Consider example.com as the website name here.<\/li>\n<li>Search for the entry: AllowToUpdateStatsFromBrowser, set the value to 1.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>AllowToUpdateStatsFromBrowser=1<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Save the .conf file. When you refresh your statistics page. you will get \u2018update now\u2019 link at the top of the page.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>2) WHM control panel<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a class=\"lightbox\" href=\"https:\/\/www.supportpro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/WHM-Control-Panel.png\" data-rel=\"penci-gallery-image-content\" ><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-4823\" src=\"https:\/\/www.supportpro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/WHM-Control-Panel-300x98.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"814\" height=\"266\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.supportpro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/WHM-Control-Panel-300x98.png 300w, https:\/\/www.supportpro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/WHM-Control-Panel.png 675w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 814px) 100vw, 814px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Please follow the steps given below to enable \u2018Update Now\u2019 option via WHM.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Login to your server using the root password.<\/li>\n<li>Go to the location Home &gt;&gt; Server Configuration &gt;&gt; Tweak Settings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can see several options as in the image given below.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Click on the option the \u201cStats and Logs\u201d to get the options listed under it.<\/li>\n<li>Search for the option \u201cAllows users to update AWstats from cPanel\u201d on the page and select the \u201cOn\u201d button on the right side of the page.
