1. format the present disk
\n#fdisk -l
\nrepresent all the present HD and the mount partitions on each.
\nHere you can now check the HD you want to have the partition and then<\/p>\n

2. create partition
\n#fdisk \/dev\/sd<a,b,c>
\nselect the HD that you want to create the partition and then create the partition you want or delete the unwanted ones by following the options listed there. You can create new ones with desired size too and write and quit.<\/p>\n

3. create file system for the parttion
\n#mkfs.ext3 \/dev\/sda<1,2,3>
\ncreate the the filesystem in that partition.<\/p>\n

4. partprobe
\n#partprobe this is to write the partition with the filesystem that we have selected, or you can also reboot the server for accomplishing this. to prevent rebooting in case of server run this command.<\/p>\n

5. mount
\nmount \/dev\/sd…. location
\nthis will mount the desired location to the partition.
\n#df -h this will show the partitioned drive and the location mounted.<\/p>\n

6. fstab
\nnow give the entry in the \/etc\/fstab and save and quit. This will make the setting permanent and also will will not change on the reboot.<\/p>\n
