Vesta control panel is a free and open source control panel in Linux. Using the Vesta control panel administrator can manage the website in his VPS and which support different flavors of Linux, supporting operating systems are RHEL 5 & 6, CentOS 5 & 6, Debian 7, Ubuntu 12.04/12.10/13.04/13.10/14.04.  The last version of Vestacp released on 2014/08/05 and which has plenty of useful features.

Installation of Vestacp

1.  connect to your server as root via SSH

# ssh root@hostname

2. Download the  installation script

#  curl -O http://vestacp.com/pub/vst-install.sh

3. Then run the installation script

# bash vst-install.sh

After that, we will get a sample question in order to install it in our VPS

4. Please enter  ‘y’ for proceeding with the installation

Then we will get another question for confirmation.

5. Please enter a valid email address for there.

6. Please enter your Hostname in there

After that, the installation process will start and installation will take a while depending on your Internet speed.

After Vesta Control Panel is installed, we will get a screen and using the URL, username and password we can log in the Vesta control panel in the browser

Features in Vesta Contol Panel

• Users

In Vesta control panel a default user is exciting and the default user is Admin. We can create multiple users via USERS section also we can enable SSH access for any users.

• Web

Vesta control panel installs both Nginx and Apache web servers and there is only one control panel which supports the Nginx and Apache. Vestacp is using the Nginx in frontend and backend which support Apache.
By using the options web we can see the details of our domains such as a suspended domain, alias etc.

• Add new website

We can add a new domain in vestacp.
Web >> Add Web Domain
Enter our domain in the field and we can assign custom IP address(if our VPS has more than one IPs)

• Advanced options

Click on it if we wish to change some advanced configurations including Aliases, will we use Nginx or not, SSL support, Web Statistics enabled or not, Statistic Authorization and additional FTP.

• DNS

Vesta installs BIND 9 as its DNS server. The Vesta web interface makes it easy to configure manual DNS zones for domains not hosted on the server or for adding additional records to hosted domains. Using the DNS option we can add the DNS records(A,AAAA,NS,CNAME,TXT,SRV,MX,PTR,SPF),
We can see the current DNS record by clicking list record and add new DNS record by add records.

• Mail

Vestacp uses the exim as its mail transfer agent (SMTP and Dovecot) and the mail delivery agent is(POP3 and IMAP)
In this option, we can use to manage the mail service, to create a new account

MAIL>> Add account

Also, we can create forwarder, mail account quota in this option

• Database

Vesta installs MySQL by default. It looks like a patch for adding PostgreSQL support is also available. By using the option DB we create database and users, for creating a new database
